Info
Meet Bernie… cute and classy, sophisticated and sassy. A lovable font whose meticulously crafted curves bring a warm embrace to every use, from bold display headlines to regular text settings.
Bernie is the latest in the offbeat tradition of soft-serifs, a style that traces back to German designer Lucian Bernhard, renowned for his bold lettering on iconic 1920s poster advertisements. From Bernhard, the trend crossed the Atlantic, materializing in classics like Cooper Black, Windsor, and American Typewriter, marking territory in a range of markets from political campaigns to hot dog promo. But as quickly as soft serifs rose to prominence, they faded, with few new interpretations since the 1970s… until now.
Today, Source Type is pleased to present Bernie, a cozy serif offering a soft touch for today’s hard times.
ST Bernie is designed by Laurenz Brunner and Stefan Fitze, first released by Source Type in 2025.
